Yooooo Gabba Gabba!

Well now that this portion of the tour is complete I can find five minutes to write about some things.

Our first stop on tour (not including our week of press) was in Minneapolis, MN. We had tech rehearsal there for a week and then opened at the Target Center on Saturday March 13th.
Our hotel was completely bizarre in Minneapolis. We stayed at the Raddison downtown. Area was great for food and shopping but the hotel had no outside windows! It was so strange to wake up in the morning and have no idea what the weather was like outside. My room had a window that looked over a ballroom. So freaky. It rained almost every single day we were there so I got used to the weather after all.

Muno & Plex needed to take the elevator at the Target Center!

After our two shows at the Target Center we drove over night and went to a theater in Milwaukee. Load in began at 6:00am and we had a 2 show day again. Needless to say, the crew was pretty tired. I was exhausted and I do not work half as hard as they do! We were in an old theater and everything was on a different floor!! I bet I walked those 8 floors about 25 times that day. Great lookin booty here I come! The shows in Milwaukee went well and then we were off to Canada!

Ooooooh Canada! I will have to write more about this one later because I cannot seem to recoup!!

Cannot Live Without It!

Because I live out of my suitcase most of the year, I have decided to share with you the things I simply cannot live without.
  1. My flatiron that doubles as a curling iron. It is the thing that dreams are made of I tell you! I actually got suckered into buying this wall in a mall in Vegas. Who knew it would become one of my very favorite possessions. I swear it makes a HUGE difference in my hair. They should hire me to be a spokeswomen I am so in love  with this product!
  2. If you are going to travel with a flatiron that you use each day, you need a case for it. My mother got me a  hot pink one of course. I love this as well because I can stick the flatiron in hot hot hot and it will keep it safe in my bag from anything happening to it. Amika sells them as well. I just happened to already have one.
  3. Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes! These things save my life. I have the weirdest hours on the road and keep these in my purse or rolling bag so that I can grab them at any time. They are essential for nights that I have to sleep on the bus because I cannot always wash my face right away. I use the "refill" pack normally while traveling. The other great thing about this product is that they are NOT a liquid!!
  4. Evian Spray! I know, I know... it seems a little "princess like" for the road but it is a MUST. Flying dries me out like crazy and my days are normally at least 12 hours in a theater. I start to zone out at points and this spray wakes me right up. It doesn't smudge makeup or give you streaks. I am in love with this stuff. Only downfall is that it is a liquid and not super small in the travel bag.
  5. I get extreme motion sickness. Extreme, I say! So leading a life of planes, trains and automobiles is a bit of a struggle. However, Stud Muffin found a solution for me about 2 years ago that has changed my life. Ginger Root!! It works wonders! The best part about it is that I have no drowsiness or any other crazy side effect. It is all natural. They make suckers, gum, pills and all sorts of things out of ginger. I normally take the pills. Although, I will warn you, like most "vitamins" you need to have food in your stomach to take it. So sometimes those 4:00am call times don't work out for me.
Well, those are the top five things (other than the basics of course) that I simply must have on the road. What about you? Anything you think I need to travel with? I am always looking for something to make life easier on the road.

Press Tour Whirlwind

Welcome to my life on the road.
Well, after we left Cincinnati we went straight to Ft. Wayne, IN. We had some downtime once we got there so we all went to dinner at a local brewery. Really cute and the food was great! Also, because I gave up beer for Lent, my bill was about $9! Can't beat that!

On Thursday morning we went to an Early Childhood Center in Fort Wayne. The kids are underprivileged and we A-mazing to see. I was so touched by them. And when we finished I learned that Gabba was giving the entire school tickets to the show!! How great is that?

We only had one stop in Fort Wayne and then we were off to Milwaukee. And, yippee! We had more free time! We went to eat at a seafood place on the river called Molly Cool's. Really Good! Mossi & Josh had King Crab and it looked fabulous.  I had some seriously good crab bisque. I was so happy to eat something that was not fast food! (Well, I did have a PB & J but that hardly counts as food.)

Friday was a long day for us! We started by "Getting Our Sillies Out" at a news station. Then we drove 50 miles to Gurnee Mills Mall. This is apparently the largest outlet mall in our country. I loved this event. All the characters sat down and colored with kids, took pictures and gave many hugs. I took some great pictures but I have to wait and let Gabba use them first.

After our drive back from Gurnee Mills, we went to the Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Game! We once again did "Get the Sillies Out" and gave away some merchandise. They also hid tickets under a seat for the show! Muno was such a big hit, that they asked him to ride the Zamboni!! I was very jealous, but at least I got to see my first hockey game!

After the hockey game we hopped on the bus and drove all night to Minneapolis. We arrived this morning about 5:45am and went straight to another television appearance. Needless to say, I am a little on the tired side today. However, it has all been so much fun I don't really mind much!

WKR?... in Cincinnati!

More life on the road.
After our fun filled day in St. Louis we drove six hours to Cincinnati, OH. The bus was pretty calm after all the fun we had during the day and that was nice.
The next morning at 4:00am when we were loading the costumes into the van, I noticed that Brobee was not in my room. (We had to store them in there over night for our early load the next day.) Oops! We left him on the bus! So, at 4:00am I had to go steal him from our bus in a random parking lot. I am sure this was a site to see.

After we finally had the entire cast of characters safely in the van we headed to Local 12 for their morning show. And let me tell you, it was fun! Who knew that at 5:00am tons of women are watching television. The host, Bob Herzog, was a blast and danced for a bit with the cast!

Then, we had a little break and the cast went to Waffle House. Mmmm. I could get used to the prices at Waffle House for my meals. I had breakfast for less than $5.00!! INSANE!

Fox News was our next stop. We "Got the Sillies Out" with the host, Frank. Too fun! We didn't know he was going to jump in and dance, but it worked out so well. It was really a great time. Those Cincinnati hosts are a riot!
Sorry no pics today. Camera needs to be charged up and I left the charger on the bus. You will have to wait until tomorrow folks!

Out and About

Welcome to my life on the road.
(I am not allowed to post too many pictures until the tour is over, so these may seem a bit boring and plain.)

Yesterday was our first day of press for this segment of our tour. We were in St. Louis. It was a real treat. We started the day off at a Fox News station, then headed over to a CBS station for a little spot. CBS just happened to be right across the street (highway) from the Arch and we had this fantastic plan to walk across the street in costume and take some pictures.

Well, walk across the street in costume we did. Ha! People were stopping in their cars and getting out their phones to take pictures. The characters played it up like crazy. They waved as cars honked and skipped across the busy street. Looking both ways before crossing of course. Then we got to the Arch and began our own little photo session.

(I figure since I am in this shot it is a "fan" shot and totally okay to post!)

We were having a grand time taking photos and laughing at ourselves when a small crowd began to gather. And then children starting appearing wanting in our photos. And, as any good group of thespians would do, we obliged all of them. Then we were saved by security, well, kind of. Security came to tell us that we needed a permit to have a promotional photo shoot at the Arch. Apparently if you are wearing giant foam costumes you look a little suspicious.

Afterward we headed to the St. Louis Children's Hospital to read to kids. I am not sure about the others but I was really touched by this moment. It took everything I had not to cry in front of those kids. They had a great time and I was so happy to have been a part of making their day better.

More to come!!

Another Day Another Airport

Well, in the last week I have been at seven airports. Yup, SEVEN.

I don't mind airports too much. They have just become a part of my daily life. But what I do wonder is why people are so cranky at the airport. I used to wonder this because I was only there for vacation and couldn't understand why people would get so upset when things weren't going their way.
Now, I am at the airport at least once a week for work. And I really see frustrated passengers on a regular basis. Sometimes I understand but mostly I don't.
This weekend in particular was a doozy. If anyone saw on television the amount of snow we had here in NYC you know. I changed my flight about 3 times before heading to the airport and praying I would get somewhere. However, the number of people that were rude about their flights being canceled or delayed simply amazed me! I mean, did you look outside people?! We have 18" of snow on the ground! I understand that it is frustrating but people cannot change what Mother Nature has in store for us.

So, with that said... today is my first day back on the job with Yo Gabba Gabba! I will be heading back to the airport this afternoon and then it is off to St. Louis.
Stay tuned for posts on road life!!
